The digital age is upon us, and for many this has happened so rapidly that they have not been able to adapt. The rate of change within the technologies for digital heritage is continuing with new hardware, software, and applications becoming available almost every day. So where do you fit into this world? Is there some constant which you can find in this changing world?
For us in The ETHER Initiative this constant is the Digitisation Strategy, which is a high-level call to action, to ensure that you are on the path to achieving your goals, your vision and your mission, and to ensure that you future-proof your organisation against uncontrolled, and unknown changes in technology.
Many people have talked about the needs for such a strategy, and many institutions have developed such strategies, but we have found that in most cases these are incomplete and insufficient to deal with the full impact of the transformation from the physical to the digital heritage.
We offer a comprehensive approach to the creation of digitisation strategies,
include a framework for review of the strategy. Our approach is based upon a gap analysis from where you are (AS-IS) to where you want to be (TO-BE), analysed over a wide range of dimensions within the multidimensional nature of the modern museum / heritage institution. The gap analysis is the basis for our production of a set of programmes and projects which will then form the basis for the transformation of the institution, within the constraints of time, money and priority, to meet the vision of the institution.
If you would like to speak to us about our Digitisation Strategy and how this may be applicable to your institution we would very much like to hear from you. We have a range of options to suit the budgets of both small to large institutions.
